Atomic City is the Internet's first electronic music production company, having been formed well over a decade ago. Their early experiments in collaborative emusic, given the nickname "Team Metlay" after founder Mike Metlay, have been released on a series of CDs that are now available through CD Baby.

Bandwidth is where it all began.

In the dead of winter of 1990, seven musicians travelled across the planet to an empty basement in Pittsburgh. They knew each other only as names on the Internet, in those dim days before AOL and the Web, where computer scientists, students, and military personnel communicated via the strange new science of email.

They hauled piles of gear out of cars, and in less than a day they transformed the bare room into a complete electronic music studio. They spoke together, putting voices and faces to names. And then they began to play.
